Answer #1

Answer : B and C

The resistance offered by the systemic circulation is known as systemic vascular resistance or total peripheral resistance .

The resistance offered by the pulmonary circulation is known as pulmonary vascular resistance.

Simply peripheral resistance is the resistance of the arteries to blood flow.

Increased viscosity increases the peripheral resistance.

Vasoconstriction increases the peripheral resistance whereas vasodilation decreases peripheral resistance. When radius of vessel is increased , it is like vasodilation and hence it decreases peripheral resistance.

Increased vessel length also increases total peripheral resistance . This is because of availability of more surface area and causes more friction.

When the contractility of heart is increased , the heart will eject a greater volume and greater force , hence total peripheral resistance decreases .
