QUESTION 1

  1. True or false? Endurance exercise training causes the skeletal muscles to become less sensitive to insulin.

    True

    False

Homework Answers

Answer #1

ANSWER :

During the endurance exercise training the glycogen stored in the skeletal muscles begin to consume via glycogenolysis process to provided extra demand of energy. After the exercise, the skeletal muscles replenish the glycogen stores with glucose from bloodstream via gluconeogenesis which requires insulin. Hence more the glycogen is burned during the endurance exercise, longer would be body's sensitivity toward insulin hormone. Therefore, the corresponding statement is false.

1) If a drugs is used to block the L-type Ca channel in SKELETAL MUSCLES, does it reduce the contraction-efficiency? And WHY. 2) The following statement is FALSE. Why? "The length of a skeletal muscle twitch is about 10-100ms." ***** About the first question If the drug blocks the L-type Ca channels and REDUCES the contraction-efficiency, I seem to understand little Ca will get through. Shouldn't this be enough for in a skeletal muscle? Why?
