Estrogen and Progestrone are the hormones involved in the maintaining the menstrual cycle.Estrogen hormone provides the positive feedback for Lutenizing hormone. Increases level of Estrogen and progestrone inhibit the secretion of FSH and LH for the menstrual cycle. And FSH and LH are necessary for the development and release of Ovum.They also make the uterine wall imcompetent for the implantation.Thus Progestrone and Estrogen prevent the development of ovum and Ovulation,altering the menstrual phases ,help in preventing the pregnancy .
