Homework Answers

Answer #1

ANSWER is RECTUS ABDOMINIS.

The rectus abdominis mucle contracts during the expiration and not during the inspiration, as it pulls down the throacic cavity toward the core of the body (or the midline) causes in increase in the pressure in the lungs so as to let the air go out of the lungs.

The mucles which contract during the forced inspiration are diaphragm, scalene muscles, sternocleidomastoid and pectoralis minor and major are the ones that actively contract druing the inspiration.
