Compact bone forms the outer part of the long bone. It has Osteons which are concentric lamellar structure. It is composed of larger number of osteocytes and bone matrix rich in collagfen fibers. These arrangement provide strength to the bone and resist its wear and tear.

Osteons, lamellae, canaliculi,
Lacunae : it contains osteocytes
Osteocytes : it secrete ground matrix
Interstitial matrix: abundant collagen and reticular fibers
