Tissue is the group of cells having similar origin performing similar functions.

Tissues are classified into four types:-

Structural difference between the different type of tissue.

- Epithelial tissue : cells arranged compactly without extracellular matrix.

Mostly present lining the organs cavities and on surface structures.

- Connective tissue:

Made up of cells and have extracellular matrix. It contains acellular collagen and elastin and reticular fibers.

- Muscular tissue:

Made of cellular contractile fibers arranged in bundles.

- Nervous tissue:

Made of conducting cells called neurons and supporting glial cells.
