Annmarie has suffered a stroke. Although she now has recovered most functions, she still is having trouble with movement of her right arm and leg. On which side of her brain did the stroke occur? Explain how you know which side of the brain was affected.
Answer : left side of brain.
reason: As she has trouble in movement of right limb .
The pyramidal tract fibers which carries motor information for limb movements are crossed fibers. i.e. fibers from left side of brain crosses and goer via right pyramidal tract and controls movement of right side of body.
and hence the affected side is right so left side of brain har stroke.
As she has weakness in both arm and leg on right side so it suggensts more amount of neurons are damaged at once by stroke (haemorrhage /thrombus/embolus) so the most probable site of lesion is internal capsule(a rubber band like structure which binds all fibers fron one cerebral hemisphere) on left side.
