Answer

Levels of estrogen and progesterone are highest during days 14-28 of the female menstrual cycle. This is to maintain the endometrial lining to increase the probability of fertilization of the egg by the sperm. --- FALSE

  • Days 14 - 18 is known as secretory phase of menstrual cycle where endometrial lining thickens.
  • As the mature follicle becomes corpus luteum after ovulation, it secretes hormone progesterone.
  • Progesterone levels rise and are highest during this phase because it is responsible for development of endometrium.
  • But estrogen levels are at peak just before ovulation as estrogen triggers LH surge which ultimately leads to ovulation.
