Differentiate between a podocyte & a pedicel in appearance, location & function.

They are located in glomerular membrane of kidney usually glomerular membrane is made up of three layers

1)endothelium of capillary 2)basement membrane and 3)a layer of epithelial cells

These epithelial cells are called PODOCYTES.these cells are not continuous but have long foot like projections called PEDICELS.these pedicels are seperated by gaps called slitpores through which glomerular filtrate moves in addition to that these podocytes will also have negative charges which provide additional restriction to filtration of plasma proteins.
