What skeletal muscles and other processes drive inspiration and expiration during exercise (or other forceful breathing)? Describe how these processes work during exercise (or other forceful breathing).
Inspiration:principal muscles are External intercoastal muscle, interchondral part of intercoastal muscle they elevate ribs.Diaphragm(dome descends, thus increasing vertical dimension of thoracic cavity, also elevates lower ribs).Accessory muscles are sternocleidomastoid it elevates sternum, scalenus group it elevates ribs, pectoralis minor.
Expiration:It results from passive, elastic recoil of lungs, rib cage, diaphragm.Internal intercoastal muscle except interchondral part of intercoastal muscle pulls ribs down,Abdominalis it pulls ribs down, compress abdominal contents then pushing diaphragm up,quadratus lumborum pulls ribs down.
