would antibodies be good at protecting our bodeis if they only had constant region? why or why not
Anatomy & physciology
Answer. No, they wouldn't be. Each antibody consists of two light and two heavy chains. The terminal region of these four chains consists of the variable region. Because of this VDJ recombination takes place and a single antibody can form number of sub-types which helps in binding them to different antigens. Because each antibody formed by recombination will have different antigen binding site that helps in providing immunity to an individual against variety of antigens or pathogens.
