1) Outline the major mechanisms that are responsible for the increase in VO2max that occurs after chronic aerobic / endurance training. (5 points)
2) What kinds of muscular adaptations occur after anaerobic training that lead to improved anaerobic performance? (5 points)
1:-
After aerobic/endurance training, the demand of our body for oxygen and energy increases. VO2 max is the amount of oxygen which is being utilized by different organs and tissues of our body.
So as we do heavy training, the demand increase which leads to increase in VO2. Our heart and muscles adapt to higher level of oxygen in order to provide more strength to the body to perform high intensities training.
2:-
Muscular adaptation in anaerobic training are-
-the size of muscle increases. Number of fibres(both type 1 and 2) increases. Type 2 fibres are more in number.
-decrease in both mitochondrial and capillary density in muscles.
- hypertrophy and hyperplasia of muscle occur to provide strength.
- the number of myofibrils increase. Muscle density increases because of increase in both actin and myosin filament.
