Answer #1

Jeff's ollapsed lung may have been caused due to the following:

  1. Any injury to the lung relating to an accident.
  2. Injuries can be a gunshot or a knife wound in the chest.
  3. Collapsed lungs can be a result of rib fracture.
  4. Certain medical procedures also contribute to the collapsing of lungs.
  5. In quite a few cases, the lung may collapse due to the blisters of air which break open. This results in air filling into the spaces of lungs.

The collapsed lung in Jeff's body may be a result of air entering the pleural space of the lung. This are is between the lung and chest wall. It is because of this he was experiencing a chest pain.
