What's the difference between somatic nerves and sympathetic nerves (somatic nervous system and the sympathetic nervous system). Also, what does it mean when a nerve is labeled as "visceral afferent", is there a difference between just a afferent signal originated from the brain?

PNS ( peripheral nervous system) is divided into two parts- 1-Somatic nervous system 2- Autonomic nervous system. Autonomic nervous system is divided into further two parts- Sympathetic nervous system. Parasympathetic nervous system

Somatic nervous system has been associated with voluntary control of body movements via skeletal muscle. It has and afferent limb , central processing unit and an efferent limb.

Autonomic system has an afferent limb ( visceral afferent fibres) which is not divided into sympathetic and parasympathetic, a central processing unit and efferent limb which is divided into sympathetic and parasympathetic.
