Histopathology is the use of microscopes to view tissues to diagnose and track the progression of diseases. Why are thin slices of tissue ideal for this procedure?
Thin slices of tissue allows light to pass through them and thus we are able to visualize the pathology under microscope. If tissue sections were to be thick then light will not pass through them, which will make it difficult to visualize. When we are thin section, then it means that there are minimal number of cells (thickness wise) and this helps in easy and better view of pathology.
Note - to view anything under microscope light must pass through specimen.
