(2) Indicate the reference range given for that animal's hematocrit. (3) Was your value IN or OUT of the reference range given for that animal? (4) Give one reason for your result.

Dear Student,

The answers for this question should be filled after conducting the experiment and by noting down the values obtained from the lab experiment.

1) Let us assume we have got an RBC count of 4.1 million/mm3 from that individual's blood

2) Reference Range :

For females - 4.1 to 5.1 million/mm3

For males - 4.5 to 5.9 million / mm3 approximately

3)We have got the value of RBC count within the reference range provided.

4) we can conclude that the value which we got ,was in the reference range without any drastic changes because as already it was mentioned in the question that the blood sample was taken from an healthy and normal individual.

I think you are clear now. ?

To save money, lab usually merges blood samples for test. Samples from multiple people will be tested only once, if the result is negative (i.e. no virus, every criterion is in the normal range, etc.), then all these people tested are healthy. If the result is positive (at least one person from this batch whose blood sample is abnormal), then these samples are tested one-by-one. Suppose all samples are taken independently. If the probability that for a person to get...

1. According to the Joslin Clinic, healthy individuals without diabetes should have a blood glucose level of no more than 100 mg dL−1 after awaking, before breakfast. What is the molarity of glucose in the blood of a healthy individual whose blood glucose level is 100 mg dL−1? 2. One index of toxicity is the LD50, the amount of substance which, when administered to a group of subject, will kill 50% of that group. (LD50 stands for lethal dose of...

1. James and George took a math exam. George’s percentile score on the exam was 45; James’s percentile score was 90 on the same test. We know that a) James correctly answered twice as many questions than George. b) They both scored better than 20 of their classmates. c) James correctly answered more questions than George. d) George did not pass the test. 2. Suppose you earned a raw score of 80 on a quiz. For which of the following...

Sheila's doctor is concerned that she may suffer from gestational diabetes (high blood glucose levels during pregnancy). There is variation both in the actual glucose level and in the blood test that measures the level. A patient is classified as having gestational diabetes if the glucose level is above 140 miligrams per deciliter (mg/dl) one hour after having a sugary drink. Sheila's measured glucose level one hour after the sugary drink varies according to the Normal distribution with μμ =...

Background Almost all animal and plant cells require oxygen and give off carbon dioxide. This is called gas exchange and it occurs by passive diffusion. Some animals do all or most of their gas exchange across their skin (for example amphibians) but they have very low metabolisms and use very little oxygen and get rid of very little carbon dioxide. On the other hand humans (and other mammals) have very high metabolic requirements and we can’t rely on gas exchange...

Part III – Something's Not Right “It’s good to have you home, honey. I missed you. How was the flight?” Stacey had come to the airport to pick Frank up and she leaned over to kiss him as he climbed into the car with his luggage. “How were the meetings? 1)Oxygen demand is a term biologists use to describe the oxygen needed by fish and other aquatic organisms for survival. The Environmental Protection Agency conducted a study of a wetland area. In this wetland environment, the mean oxygen demand was μ = 9.7 mg/L with 95% of the data ranging from 6.3 mg/L to 13.1 mg/L. Let x be a random variable that represents oxygen demand in this wetland environment. Assume x has a probability distribution that is approximately normal....

I have provided the information for the lab below. I want to see the chemical reactions that take place during each step of the experiment. So in the procedures when a chemical was added i would like to see what the products and byproducts that were formed. I also want to see one over all reaction for this experiment to just get an overview of what exactly is happening during the experiment. Thank you:) Part B: Synthesis of [Co(NH3)5Cl]Cl2 Objective:...
