Two hormones that decreases blood glucose level by allowing the entry of glucose into the cell and its utilization by cell are:

- Insulin: this hormone is secreted by the beta cells pancreatic islets of langerhans. It acts on insulin receptors on the cells thereby upregulating GLUT carriers to allow entry of Glucose into the cell.

- release of GLP-1 (glucagon like peptide) and GIP (gastric inhibitory peptide) act to increase insulin secretion by the pancreas thereby lowering blood glucose level.
