Answer #1

Answer

The process of urine formation occurs in three steps :

  • Filtration
  • Reabsorption
  • Secretion

In the process of filtration, water along with small molecules such as ions, nutrients, nitrogenous waste products are filtered out of glomerulus capillaries into the Bowman's capsule.

The fluid that enters glomerular capsule is called filtrate.

The pathway for glomerular filtrate in order is :

  1. Glomerular capsule
  2. Proximal convoluted tubule
  3. Descending limb of loop of Henle
  4. Ascending limb of loop of Henle
  5. Distal convoluted tubule
  6. Collecting duct
  7. Renal papilla
  8. Minor calyx
  9. Major calyx
  10. Renal pelvis
  11. Ureter
  12. Urinary bladder
  13. Internal urethral sphincter
  14. Urethra
  15. External urethral sphincter
  16. External urethral orifice -----> Out of the body

At the end of collecting duct, when this fluid enters renal papilla, it is called urine.

A major route of elimination of siRNA from the bloodstream is through kidney filtration. As naked siRNA can pass through the glomerular filtration barrier99, many delivery systems prevent renal clearance by encapsulating siRNA into particles larger than ~20nm17. It should be noted that several highly efficacious delivery systems, including Dynamic PolyConjugates (DPCs)100 and triantennary N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) conjugates101, are smaller than this cutoff, which probably reflects the fact that these delivery systems mainly deliver their payloads in the first pass through...

1)Starting with the afferent arteriole entering a nephron, describe all the structures a glucose molecule encounters and passes through prior to its departure from the kidney. (It is stipulated that the individual in which the unit of blood is located is healthy and is definitely not hyperglycemic.) 2). Same as for b), but substitute a creatinine molecule. how they excreted and filtered out into the filtrate by the body and end up in the urine.
