  1. How do we reabsorb more water after the PCT? Hint: discuss long Loops of Henle of the juxtaglomerular nephrons and ADH.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

In human there are two types of neuron

1 cortical neuron in which loop of henle is very short or absent

2 juxtaglomerular nephron which have loop of henle that goes into deep inside the medula. It has two limbs one is descending limb (permeable to water) and other is ascending limb (impermeable to water and permeable to ions) of loop of henle.

So in juxtaglomerular nephron after filtrate come from proximal convulated tubule goes to loop of henle descending limb help in reabasorption of water. So that urine formed gets concentrated. Other mechanism is Antidiuretic hormone (ADH) this increases the amount of water reabsorbed in the distal convoluted tubule and collecting duct. And ADH also decreases urine volume and decreases plasma osmolarity.
