Lymphatic system is a closed system of lymph channels through which lymph flows.

Functions of lymph is -

1. Lymph returns the protein from tissue space into blood.

2. It is responsible for redistribution of fluid in the body.

3. Bacteria, toxin and other foreign bodies are removed from tissues from lymph.

Structures of lymphatic system is as follows-

The flow of lymph is as follows-

1. Lymphatic capillaries

2. Lymphatic vessels

3. Lymphatic nodes.

4. Lymphatic trunk.

5 Finally drain into Subclavian vein.

The lymphatic system along with blood to maintain homeostasis. Blood and lymph contains cells like antibodies, macrophages etc which provide defence mechanism to body. Lymph also maintain fluid balance in body. The excessive fluid is removed by blood.
