Platelet counts of 10,000 cells/ul would most directly result in Ans choice: immunosuppression B: anemia C: hemorrhage D: all of the above

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Normal platelet count is 150,000 to 450,000 per microlitre of blood, main functions of platelets are to help in clotting of blood and preventing the blood from flowing freely out of the vessels.

If the platelet count drops drastically for e.g. to 10,000 then these functions will be compromise leading to bleeding (hemorrhage is when the blood starts flowing out of the body).

So the correct answer is C hemorrhage.

Immuno suppression is caused by low number of WBCs where low RBC count leads to Anemia.
