4. What would cause the release of catecholamines from the adrenal medulla? Describe the roll of these hormones.
The adrenal medulla releases the hormones epinephrine and norepinephrine. These are released when there is sympathetic stimulation to the adrenal medulla gland.
The function of these hormones is mainly on the cardiovascular system which include increase in the blood pressure and increase in cardiac output. This occurs by action on the heart which increases force of contraction and on blood vessels which causes vasoconstriction.
On kidney, it causes increase in the glomerular filtration rate. On metabolism, it increases the blood sugar levels.
Hope this helps... Thank you!!!
