During energy production in aerobic environment the substrate(glucose) undergoes complete metabolism and pyruvate is generated. Pyruvate is desirable and it is further used up in other metabolic cycles that occur in the body
Whereas in anaerobic environment the substrate does not undergo complete metabolism and leads to the production of lactic acid. This lactic acid accumulates in the muscle causing fatigue.
Lactic acid cannot be metabolised in the muscle and has to be transported to the liver for the same.
Also, in anaerobic environment sufficient ATPs are not generated as much as are generated in aerobic environment
