There are two types of immunity .
They are Humoral immunity (mediated by antibodies) and cell mediated immunity ( by T lymphocytes)
* Cell mediated immunity is used for detecting and destroying intracellular pathogens like the cells infected with virus or bacteria.
*As mentioned above, cell mediated immunity occurs majorly through T lymphocytes using CD 4+ and CD 8+ subtypes.
* In this mechanism, the Interleukin receptor induces the Th 1 cell to activate macrophages and neutrophils to the target site.
* The macrophages phagocytose the pathogen.
* This causes the Tc cells to proliferate and recognize foreign antigen present on non professional APCs and attacks pathogens and causes lysis of the cell.
