Answer #1

Slowed processing theory of aging means the deterioration of the cognitive and intellectual function of brain which occur due to aging. The processing speed of brain is decreased which leads to slow activites, slow motor responses and less understanding.

Reason for this deterioration- because of aging, there is destruction in some parts of brain. Myelin and neuropil are reduced in brain cortex. Also, their is destruction of both white and grey matter of many areas of brain. Main reason for thwse changes is reduced blood supply to brain tissues as a consequence of aging. This leads to atrophy of brain tissue resulting in decreased cognitive and processing functions.
