Answer #1

The number of chromosomes in a primary spermatocyte or primary oocyte is 46.Primary spermatocytes are diploid (2N) cells. After Meiosis 1 two secondary spermatocytes are formed. Secondary spermatocytes are haploid (N) cells that contain half the number of chromosomes. In terms primary spermatocytes that gives rise by meiosis to a pair of haploid cells that give rise in turn to spermatids. The Primary oocytes are produced by the process of oocytogenesis that occurs during embryonic stage.Primary oocytes are diploid.
