Ans) The type of misunderstanding that occurs when people assign different meanings to the same words is called - Semantic.

Semantic is basically the linguistic and philosophical study of meaning, in language, programming languages, formal logics, and semiotics. It is the study of meaning in language. A semantic   dispute is basically a disagreement which arrises if the people involved disagree about the basic definition of a word or phrase. Semantic barriers are the obstacles in communication which arries due to difficulties in the interpretation of the meanings of words. There are seven types of meaning in semantics: conceptual, connotative, stylistic, affective, reflected, collocative, thematic meaning. The semantic gap is the difference in meaning between constructs formed within different representation systems.
