List and briefly explain THREE structural adaptations of small intestines which increases its surface area making it very efficient at absorption of nutrients.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The average length of small intestine in human being is around 23 feet.

1. First is due to its long length , complete digestion of food takes place here. This make it very efficient in absorption of nutrients.

2. Presence of villi and microvilli as well increase its surface area and increase its absorption.

3 . Muscular contraction occur here with the help of smooth muscles which help to digest the food completly.

Also there are enzymes present which help to convert the macronutrients into micronutrients.
