.If brush border cells were no longer functioning, which one of the following could still be digested?

A. dipeptide à amino acid + amino acid

B. triglyceride à monoglyceride + 2 fatty acids

C. fructose à glucose + sucrose

D. lactose à glucose + galactose

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer

Option B) Triglyceride to à monoglyceride + 2 fatty acids

  • Brush border cells cells secerte sucrase, lactase for conversion of diasccharides such as sucrose and lactose. The end products are glucose, galactose, fructose.
  • Dipeptidases are also secreted by brush border cells to convert dipeptides into amino acids.
  • But, pancreatic lipase that converts triglycerides into a monoglyceride and 2 fatty acids is secreted from pancreas.

Hence, malfunctioning of brush border cells cannot affect triglyceride digestion.
