There were many reasons for the change of European attitudes towards the ancients in the 15th and 16th centuries .

Some of the main reasons are explained here.

* The Europeans were trading to Asia, through the land route which was not that convenient and it was dangerous too. So, this created them to think if shorter routes for travelling to Asia.

* They want to spread their religion into Asian and other countries.

*Increased desire for land, wealth and power encouraged European exploration

So, the 15th and 16th centuries were also known as Age of European exploration.
