Profunda femoris artery is large and important branch of femoral artery which arises from lateral side. It appears 1.5 inch below inguinal ligament.

#Blood supply to knee (arterial supply)

1. Femoral artery - descending genicular, descending branch of lateral circumflex femoral.

2. Popliteal artery - superior medial genicular, inferior medial genicular, middle genicular, superior lateral genicular, inferior lateral genicular

3. Anterior tibial artery - posterior tibial recurrent, anterior tibial recurrent

4. Posterior tibial artery - circumflex fibular

#blood supply to soles of feet

Mainly by branches of posterior tibial and dorsalis pedis arteries.
