Why do you think a combining vowel is needed when multiple word roots are connected?
This is for medical terminology course.
Answer:- Most of medical terms are composed of four word parts : word roots, suffixes, prefixes and combining vowels. The combining vowels are placed either between a word root and suffix or between two word roots or multiple word roots. A combining vowel is needed when multiple word roots are connected mainly because of two reasons such as : it connects word parts and it make medical terms easier to spell and pronounce. It is usually an "O", but occasionally it is an "i".
Example :- Electr/o/cardi/o/gram
