Rats are not having as many Brodmann area as we humans have . Humans have many cytoarchitectonic features and they do many different functions which will lead to further evolution of neocortex. In case of rats much evolution will not take place and it is only made up agranular critical areas when compared to human neocortex.
The neocortex region is smooth in rats which indicate that their is less neocortical evolution in their brain. In human brain we have sulci and fissures that provide more surface area for different functions of the brain . Rats have smooth brain neocortex which indicate less surface area and less Brodmann's area
Rats also lack homologues of the dorsolateral prefrontal areas of human brain . They have reduced work with their brain and will have less evolved neocortex
