Diagnosis- Johnny is most probably suffering from a defect in the eye called myopia.

It is also known as near-sightedness.In this defect,a person is able to see nearby objects but cannot see faraway objects clearly and distinctly. It occurs when light rays meet at a point in front of the retina rather than on the retina. Therefore, the faraway objects appear blur.

Correction- the optometrist would recommend Johnny to use spectacles with concave lenses.Concave lenses will make the rays of light coming from faraway objects to be focused on the retina. This way Johnny would be able to see the chalk board clearly.
