How do we measure pH? Specifically, explain the 3 types of numbers you might encounter when measuring pH and explain what they mean.
pH: pH is the potenz of hydrogen ion concentration in water.
Three Methods of pH measurements:
1.Pepper strip coated in pH indicating dye. Use a coated peper coated in pH indicating dye which gives colour change when dipped in water. Then measure the colour change with colour meter.
2. By using the pH testing kit
3. By digital pH meter
pH is measured by the logarithmic method.
pH: -log 10 [H+]
There are the three numbers which we come across during the measurements of pH.
pH is measured by pH scale which 14 numbers
Acidic: If the pH is the less than 7 then it is acidic in nature.
Basic: If the pH is greater than 7 then its basic in nature.
Neutral: If the pH of the solution is 7 then its neutral in nature.
