Answer #1

VO2 max is the maximum amount of oxygdn consumed by the body during strenous activity. It is used to measure the aerobic fitness of an individual.
To increase VO2 max a drug must follow this mechanism :

The drug acts on the kidney to increase the release of erythropoietin hormone. The erythropoietin then stimulates bone marrow to produce more RBC. This will increase the RBC in blood which will cause more haemoglobin available to bind with oxygen and better oxygen supply to cells. Erythropoietin also increases the blood pressure through vasoconstriction. This result in increased heart rate, stroke volume and cardiac output.
