A patient has blood pressure of 120/80 a stroke volume
of 70 ml and an EDV of 140 ml. what is the ESV ?
please show your work.
End systolic volume (ESV) = amount of blood left in the ventricle after ventricular systole
End diastolic volume = amount of blood in the ventricle after
vetricular diastole.
Stroke volume = amount of blood ejected from ventricle after
ventricular diastole.
stroke volume = 70 ml ; EDV = 140 ml
Stroke volume = end diastolic volume – end systolic volume
Or
end systolic volume = end diastolic volume - stroke volume
end systolic volume = 140-70 = 70ml
ESV = 70ml
