2. Would you find Alpha 1 and Beta 1 receptors on the same cell? how about Alpha 1 and M? Explain which works, which doesn’t and why?
ANSWER :
Alpha and beta 1 receptors are adrenergic receptors and controlled via autonomic nervous system. Both alpha and beta1 are not located at the same cell of organ. Alpha 1 receptors are located on the arteries and stimulated with epinephrine or norepinephrine hormone which increase blood flow and blood pressure by vasoconstriction.
Beta 1 receptors are present on the muscles of heart and increase its contractile strength or contractility and heart rate. Both the alpha 1 and beta 1 receptors except alpha M act agonistic to provide adaptation in cardiovascular system of the body.
