Goblet cells play role in the body to protect mucous membrane by secreting the mucus.

Glycoproteins formed mostly by carbohydrate. Where MUC2 prevalent the intestine  MUC5AC and MUC5B in the respiratory the track.

In the intestine, its provide the protection from the acid by repairing the mucus layer. In-ear it also prevents entry of dust by sticking the particles with mucus.

In mouth, it provides the tolerance against the hot and warm.
