The doctors are checking for the sensory perception that the patient is able to feel. A spinal cord injury is caused by damage to parts of the spine or the spinal cord . This accident blocks the signals from reaching the muscles, resulting in paralysis, or sensory information from reaching the brain. By using feather the doctor will be able to determine whether he is able to recognize the soft tissue perception and ice cubes are used to determine his temperature perception. These tests look for the soinal nerve injuries.
