Epidural space consist of arteries, veins, lymphatics, spinal nerve roots and most importantly the fat.Fat which present in this space support to absorb shock,that safeguard the remaining contents present in the region, dura too.Dura is the outer surface of covering,known as the meninges,which encircle the spinal cord.

The epidural medications come under a group of drugs known as local anesthetics,like the chloroprocanine , bupivacaine or the lidocaine.These are frequently provided in amalgamation with opioids or the narcotics like the sufentanil and the fentanyl for reducing the required dosage of the local anesthetic.
