Answer #1

Alveolar ventilation is the amount of air reaches the alveoli.

If the person inhales 500ml of air, out of that 150ml reaches anatomical dead space and remaining 350ml reaches alveoli.

So that alveolar ventilation rate is calculated as below:

Alveolar ventilation rate= air that ventilates alveoli × respiratory rate

= 350ml×12

=4200ml.

Inspiratory Reserve volume (IRV) is maximal volume of air inhaled at the end inspiratory level. It is 3000ml.

It is sum of total lung capacity and tidal volume.

Alveolar ventilation is differ from inspiratory reserve volume.

At rest, the average person breathes 0.5 liters (0.017 ft3) approximately 12-20 per minute. If you were to breath 0.5 liters per breath at a rate of 20 breaths per minute, calculate how long a completely full 80 ft3 scuba tank would last at the following depths – 10 m, 20 m, 30 m, 40 m. Technical divers can also breath mixed gasses to depths below 100 m. Using the same breathing volume and rate, calculate how long it would...

Java discussion: There are several Integrated Development Environment(s) (IDEs) for Java. We have been using Eclipse as the IDE for this class. There are a couple more popular Java IDEs that some of you may have used or heard about in the past. These include NetBeans and  IntelliJ IDEA.   For this discussion, you are to compare and contrast the similarities and differences between Eclipse and one other Java IDE. You should also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each.   (written in...
