Wendy has myasthenia gravis.

Answer #1

Myasthenia Gravis is a condition in which Auto anitbodies are produced against Acetylcholine receptors present on the surface of the skeletal muscle. Ach receptors are necessary for normal functioning of the skeletal muscle as it helps in its contraction.

This causes muscle weakness. Diaphragm is a primary muscle of respiration and it is made up of skeletal muscle fibers. Weakening of diaphragm leads to difficulty in breathing and may also lead to respiratory failure causing death.
