Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer

Option E) Carbohydrate digestion is greatly impaired

  • Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver.
  • Liver functions to prodcuce bile, neutralize toxins and produce plasma proteins.
  • Hence, imapirment in liver function may result in poor fat digestion, deficiency of plasma proteins and increased toxins in blood.
  • In hepatitis, bilirubin (by-products of hemaglobin breakdown) is accumulated in the blood.

But, carbohydrates are digested by enzymes released from salivary glands and pancreas. Hence they are least likely to get affected.
