Answer #1

Answer

  • ACE is angiotensin converting enzyme.
  • This enzyme helps in conversion of angiotensin-1 into angiotensin-II.
  • Angiotensin-II acts on blood vessels and cause vasoconstriction. Narrowing of the arteries increase peripheral resistance and blood pressure rises.
  • ACE inhibitors prevent binding of ACE to its receptors in order to prevent production of angiotensin-II.
  • Unavailibility of angiotensin-II would not lead to vasoconstriction.
  • The blood vessels will remain in relaxed state.
  • This will lead to a decrease in blood pressure.
