Our body produces mutant cells on daily basis . It is kept in check by our immune system . T lymphocytes play important role in killing mutant or cancerous cells. Macrophages and natural killer cells also invade and kill the mutant cells.
Mutant cells have different structure or composition than normal body cells . Due to this these cells are identified as non self or foreign agents ,which gets identified by our immune system and it destroys the cells.
Mainly cytotoxic t cells , macrophages and natural killer cells attack and kill the mutant cells.
Sometimes, these mutant cells release certain chemicals which gets identified by our immune system and the further process of invade and killing the mutant cells take place.
