1)Balance is achieved and maintained by a complex set of sensorimotor control systems that includes sensory input from vision(sight),proprioception(touch),and the vestibular system (motion, equilibrium, spatial orientation) integration of that sensory input and motor output to eye and body muscles.
2)Nystagmus: It is vision condition,in which eye makes repetitive, uncontrolled movements. These movements often results in reduced vision and depth perception and can effect balance and coordination
Causes:congenital, idiopathic,or secondary to a pre existing neurological disorder,it also may be induced temporarily by disorientation(such as on roller coaster rides) or by some drugs( alcohol, lidocaine,CNS depressants, psychedelics etc)
This type of eye movement most commonly present with phenothiazine intoxication.
