Oxygen molecule when inhaled till alveoli goes to the blood stream as a exchange through a small tiny membrane and at the same time the co2 excess comes out from the blood stream.this depends on the diffusion coefficient.

If co2 is in less amount in blood then also it will move fast due to having high diffusion coefficient 20 times more than 02

This process occurs through small tiny membrane when o2 gets into muscles oxygens and hemoglobin bond loosen and gets used
