Two sutures are made of non-biodegradable material and biodegradable material.

What are the local tissue responses toward these implants one year after implantation in a rat?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Thd sutures helps in wound closure after a surgery or traumatic injury and helps to  keep the wound intact till the natural healing occurs. Sutures are made of various materials. These materials can be classified as biodegradable and non biodegradable.
Biodegradable materials shows a greater tissue response as compared to non biodegradable material.
Biodegradable materials are degraded and ansorbed through actions of lymphocytes. Also bacterial adherence to biodegradable material is higher which results in greater inflammatory and local tissue responses.
Biodegradable materials are encapsulated by the fibroblasts and does not exhibit much tissue responses. The tissue response to non biodegradable material is shorter and less intense.

Two conductors are made of the same material and have the same length. The conductor A is a solid wire 1 mm in diameter; conductor B is a hollow tube with an outside diameter of 2 mm and an internal diameter of 1 mm. What is the ratio between the resistances of the two wires, RA / RB? At resistances are measured between the ends of the wires.
