All of the structures below are components of the cardiovascular system. In the hierarchy or organization, which of these structures is the LEAST complex?

  mitochondria

  cardiac muscle tissue

  contractile proteins (myosin, actin)

  the heart

  cardiac muscle cell

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Ans- Mitochondria

According to the hierarchy or organisation there are levels of organisations. These are from simple to complex- organelle, cells, tissues, organ, organ system, organism, population, community, ecosystem and biosphere. Therefore, organelle being the most simple or least complex. Here, mitochondria is the organelle being the least complex. Cardiac muscle tissue is the tissue of heart , contractile proteins are arrangement of cells, heart is the pumping organ of the body and cardiac muscle cell is the basic cell of the heart.

1. When an action potential reaches the T-tubule, it will activate the dihydropyridine receptor at the T-tubule to change conformational shape. Dihydropyridine receptor will trigger ryanodine receptor channel to secrete Ca2+ from the sarcoplasmic reticulum into the cytosol. When action potential is absent, Ca2+ ATPase at the sarcoplasmic reticulum will pump cytosolic Ca2+ into the sarcoplasmic reticulum. Select one: a. True b. False 2. What is TRUE about the myofibril?
